Living room

Cathedral ceiling, exposed beams and a central stone fireplace. The keystone of the house — twelve people gather around the fire under the mezzanine balcony.

Dining · Terrace view

Dining room

A long wooden table for twelve, picture windows onto the terrace and the summits. Late-afternoon light pours in at apéro o'clock.

Main bedroom · Under the eaves
03 / 07

Main bedroom

Queen bed under the eaves, oak floor, twin nightstands and a cast-iron radiator. The softest pillow in the house.

Landing · Wardrobe
04 / 07

Landing

Upstairs, a landing-cum-wardrobe distributing the bedrooms. Open hanging rail, crib available on request, daylight through a skylight.

Bath · Stone & brass
05 / 07

Bathroom

Pale travertine, round basin and a large back-lit mirror. Almost contemplative — quiet and warm.

Mezzanine · TV lounge
06 / 07

Mezzanine

Under the rafters, a TV lounge with club chairs, a grey daybed and a long view down to the living room. The teenagers' après-ski.

Dorm · Six bunks

Dorm

Four pine bunks for six sleepers. The cousins' den — sheer curtains, mirrored wardrobe, daylight all afternoon.

The rooms we didn't photograph

A few rooms worth describing — the house isn't only its seven photos.

  • 01

    Kitchen

Fully equipped and open to the dining room. Induction hob, oven and full-size dishwasher. Crockery, pots, glassware and cutlery for big tables — everything you need to cook for twelve without elbowing each other.

  • 02

    Three more bedrooms

Beyond the main bedroom, three quiet rooms: queen bed or twins depending on the room, oak floor, generous storage and blackout curtains. Forest or summit views, a bedside lamp for each sleeper.

  • 03

    Second bathroom

Wide walk-in shower, double basin and separate WC. A welcome second wet room when the whole house comes back from the slopes at the same time.

  • 04

    The terrace

South-facing, with an open view over the Dents du Midi. Outdoor furniture in summer, sun loungers on bright days, untouched snow in winter. The favourite spot for high-altitude apéros and breakfasts in the sun.

  • 05

    Ski room

By the entrance, a dedicated room with heated boot dryers for ski boots and après-ski boots, wall racks for skis and snowboards. In summer it becomes the mountain-bike garage.

  • 06

    Cellar & garage box

Locked cellar in the basement for luggage and wine, plus a private closed garage box. Enough to keep a car safe from frost and snow all winter.

A house both big and intimate — a rare thing.
